Anna Pilson is a PhD student at Durham University School of Education. Her project is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council and aims to create a participatory action research model that positions children with a vision impairment as knowledge producers and change agents. Her collaborative partners are the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB) and VIEW (the professional association of the vision impairment education workforce). Prior to commencing her PhD, she spent 13 years working as a teacher, and since 2012 was a specialist advisory teacher for vision impairment (QTVI). Her research interests include participatory action research, co-production, inclusive education, critical disability studies, vision impairment and its educational impact, and practitioner-led and school-based research.
