Kendra has a long-standing interest in science education. Recently this has involved interdisciplinary work with colleagues on the role of ‘the learning sciences’ in initial teacher education. The resulting open-access resources can be found at: https://www.bathspa.ac.uk/learning-sciences.
Kendra is currently exploring the implications of cognitive neuroscience for the teaching of primary science for the Teacher Assessment in Primary Science (TAPS) project. Previously she has researched dialogic teaching in the context of primary science and is working with her colleague Alison Lee to consider the relationship between dialogic pedagogies and neuropsychology. Kendra co-leads the Centre for Research in Scientific and Technological Learning and Education at Bath Spa University.
Before all this, Kendra taught in primary schools in Bristol and South Gloucestershire.
