Francesco Maiorana is an independent researcher at University of Urbino Department of Pure and Applied Science, a former Computer Science Instructor at the Department of Computer Science, Kansas State University, a Scientix ambassador, and a CoderDojo Champion.

He is an active researcher in computer science education, medical informatics, and data mining, with more than fifteen years of experience and more than 70 manuscripts, the first one in 2004, published in peer-reviewed international journals and conferences with, according to Google Scholar, an H index of 14 and an i10-index of 17. He was an active researcher in international, European and national projects.

He has more than twenty-five years of teaching experience, including tutoring and teaching high school, undergraduate and graduate courses, teacher preparation courses, special education teacher preparation as well as volunteer mentorship in non-formal and informal education. He has a long-lasting experience in content, learning resources, and assessment design and development.

He is a member of the ACM Society, ACM Special Interest Groups on Computer Science Education (SIGCSE), Accessibility (SIGACCESS), Computer and Society (SIGCAS), Association for Teacher Education in Europe (ATEE), Computing At School, Computer Science Teachers Associations, British Educational Research Association (BERA), European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction (EARLI), IEEE, IEEE Education Society, and Associazione Italiana Calcolo Automatico (AICA).
