TEAN: Let’s talk about evidence-informed teaching
The Teacher Education Advancement Network, in association with Critical Publishing
You can join the day in person or by way of a Skype link. Further details below.
This event is relevant to teachers (all age phases), ITE students, teacher educators and colleagues involved in teacher education.
Why it’s a good idea to talk about this: The drive for evidence-informed teaching has remained strong over the past 20 years yet the teaching community remains reluctant to use evidence to inform their professional decision-making. Is this because evidence-based practice does not work in education, or because we do not have the right model, or because the profession lacks the capacity to engage with this approach? This seminar recasts evidence-informed teaching as a ‘wicked issue’ and explores the opportunities and challenges facing the profession in the light of the Carter Review (2015) and the 2016 White Paper for Education, ‘Educational excellence everywhere’.
Keynote address: Critical Publishing and TEAN are very pleased to welcome Dr Val Poultney, Institute of Education, University of Derby, to lead this.
Date: Tuesday, March 6th, 2018
Venue: University of Cumbria, Lancaster campus, Alexandra Building 209

Potential Skype delegates, please note with care
From TEAN’s perspective, Critical Publishing’s perspective and the perspective of our keynote speaker, Skype is an opportunity offered to individuals only, not groups. It is therefore not permissible to invite others to join you on the day.
It is also not permissible to record the event in any way for reasons of Intellectual Property Rights and basic courtesy to our keynote speaker. We strongly advise that there are better, more interesting ways of using what you personally learn from the day with others.
