Message from the event organisers:
Dear colleagues,
It is with great pleasure that we extend a warm invitation to you to attend the fourth international conference on Value and Virtue in Practice-Based Research. The conference, always with a strong international profile, has become an established feature of the York St John University landscape, and we are proud to host it again this year. The final date for submission of abstracts is 28th February.
Each year we identify a theme of topical interest and relevance, which also reflects the process of a cycle of educational enquiry. This year we are focusing on the need for openness and criticality as we write and publish our research. Seldom has there been such urgency around writing and publishing practice-based work, both from the perspective of making our work public in the interests of demonstrating validity and accountability, and also in the sense of speaking for ourselves. We all know that the voices of educators are sometimes lost among those that extol the virtues of technical rationality: this conference provides a forum for the celebration of educational voices and a means of coming together in the formation of a new public sphere where educational issues may be discussed in an educational manner – while at the same time enjoying the good company of colleagues who share the same kinds of interests and commitments.
Please connect with any questions and we will respond. Further information can be found at http://www.yorksj.ac.uk/education–theology/faculty-of-etrs/faculty-events/value-and-virtue-2014.aspx
We look forward to welcoming you to what promises to be a warm, collegial and inspirational conference in beautiful York St John University in the heart of beautiful York.
All good wishes,
Jean McNiff and the Value and Virtue Team
