The BERA Conference 2022 was held at the University of Liverpool, 6–8 September 2022.
Keynotes were:
Throughout 2022 we have advanced our State of the Discipline project. This major piece of work is looking at the state of education as an academic discipline in universities, as a field of practice, and as a significant and central element of social and political policy.
In December we published a report that looks at equality and diversity in HEI education departments.
Our work on Race and Education continues. We published a report series presenting the findings and recommendations of five research projects that have investigated aspects of race and ethnicity across the education sector, and hosted an event on each report that provided an update on this important work.
Through the BERA Small Grants fund we are funding 6 projects under the theme of “Learning for All”.
We will publish these reports in 2023.
Our 2022/2024 Research Commission is now open for applications under the theme:
The impact of educational research on the public: setting the agenda.
This is worth £20,000 in funding.
Our strategic plan clarifies our vision, mission, values, and objectives:
We ran over 60 free virtual events for members, and in 2023 we will run both in person and online events.
Our digital resources page hosts all event recordings from the last two years.
We awarded the 2022/2023 BCF Curriculum Investigation Grant UK to three schools and colleges.
The theme for this years applications was “Developing a curriculum for climate and sustainability education.”
In November we partnered with UCML to host our British Curriculum Event “Developing language learning across the four nations: sharing innovative and creative approaches.”
In March 2023, the next BCF event will be “Playful Learning and Curriculum”.
Our Early Career Researcher Network continues to thrive and hosts an annual symposia series, writing for publications workshops and more.
In May 2023 we will host an ECR Conference, “The ECR Journey: From Inspiration to Impact”.
The BERA Blog went from strength to strength, with 500,000 readers worldwide.
