Awards and Bursaries
BERA currently runs a number of awards and bursaries in conjunction with the Annual Conference.
BERA Student Bursaries
BERA awards 20 bursaries each year to UK students and occasionally overseas students, to attend the Conference. BERA is keen to give financial help to students, registered for Higher Degrees by Research in an educational field, who would not otherwise be able to attend the conference. Only full time students are eligible to apply and preference is given to students who present at the Conference. Please click here to download the application form.
BERA Teacher Bursaries
BERA awards 20 bursaries each year to cover supply costs to release teachers to attend the Conference. All teachers from the UK are eligible to apply but preference is given to those presenting a paper. Please click here to download the application form.
BERA International Bursaries
BERA is delighted to announce that as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting researchers internationally, it is continuing to offer bursaries at the BERA Conference 2014. Bursaries are available to individuals made up from the 84 countries classified as low income or lower-middle income as specified by the World Bank. BERA Doctoral Dissertation Award
The BERA Doctoral Dissertation Award is made for the best PhD, DPhil or EdD thesis for research in Education awarded by a British university in 2013. The dissertation or thesis writer must be a member of BERA.
The winner will receive:
- A £500 prize
- Access to the BERA conference to receive their award at an awards ceremony;
- The opportunity to have their dissertation published in summary in either Insights or Research Intelligence.
Closing date for applications for this year: 12.00pm (midday) on 28th March 2014.

BERA Masters Dissertation Award
The BERA Masters Dissertation Award is made for the best thesis or dissertation produced as part of a Master course in Education awarded by a British university in 2013. The dissertation or thesis writer must be a member of BERA.

- Access to the BERA conference to receive their award at an awards ceremony;
- The opportunity to have their dissertation published in summary in either Insights or Research Intelligence.
